Don't know why I didn't do it before...

Finally broke down and got a couple of DEI-530T Window automation modules ( http://www.directed.com/security/access/oaccess.asp ). I have no idea why I didn't do it before! I love them, and now understand why those of you that have them love them...Arming the alarm and having them auto-rollup is great, OPTION button vents or completely lowers them. For those of you that don't have them, get them!

Spent about 2 hours installing them (4 doors require 2 modules, 2 door requires only one)... I even scared the hell out of some lady next to my car today when I lowered them and she didn't see anyone in the car...The fact that they give the AUTO functionality to all 4 windows instead of just the driver's window alone makes them great... Can't reccomend them enough... I've been so security concious that these modules were a good addition to my current alarm system. Though I'm thinking of switching from the 786t to the 996a
( http://www.audiovox.com/webapp/wcs/s...2870&langId=-1 )

Just wanted to mainly comment on the window modules though...

sort like the feature that some V-dubs come with where u stick the key in the door and turn one way or the other to make the windows go up and down.

Except it's fully remote control... when you arm the alarm, all 4 windows go up , when you click option, they go down 2" for each click (so you can vent) and if you hol the option button they auto all 4 windows down...

It doesn't pull up and meet you at the door? Why bother then! ;-)

Re: Don't know why I didn't do it before...

I was seriously thinking of getting an alarm for my car. With all the bells and whistles. Although since the car is 20 years old now I don't think that I'll get the best system. I mean half the stereo equiptment that I'm dropping in wasn't built this milenium, so why should I bother getting the best.
I just want the convience of being able to lower all the windows. Plus with the cost of fuel going through the roof so's the price of anything that's diesel powered.

Pretty cool stuff. Can it also sense that it's raining out and roll the windows up if they were left open?

Re: Don't know why I didn't do it before...

They have sunroofs that do that now, so all that it would take is a relay hooked up to that sensor, with a 20 second delay for every window (so you don't run too much current through the thin wires at 1 time)
