Trouble code p2106 and ABS Light on

I have a 04 LS V6, scanned the codes and got P2106 and P1184. The ABS Light comes on and so does the traction control light intermittently but together. I expected to see a code related to the ABS system, like a wheel indicator problem but there wasn't one. I recently replaced the brake pads all around and it was after that when the MIL and ABS/Traction Control lights started coming on. Any suggestions? Thanks.

There are codes about the ABS stored. However, you can't read them with a generic OBDII reader. You need a Ford specific scan tool. Here's an example of one.

You have to get both the tool and the Ford specific unlock code.

Often, ETC problems are caused by marginal coils. (They cause electrical noise that interferes with the electronic throttle control, as well as other systems.)

Re: Trouble code p2106 and ABS Light on

I have the same problem I wen to the dealer and they said I needed a new throttle body for a fee of 1000 dollars for parts and labor. They never mentioned any coils. I already changed the TPS and drove for over a hundred miles but on my way to the inspection center the light and etc failsafe code came on. I have heard stories how people could only drive so fast in this mode but my car only drives rough. Any sugestions on which coil i should replace.

Yes, all of them. Coil #4 on V8s, and #3 on V6 are often the most likely causes, but it could be any of them. General experience is that once one coil fails, the rest will follow soon anyway.

Always change the spark plug when you change the coil.

Re: Trouble code p2106 and ABS Light on

Thanks joegr, I suspected that I'd have to get a scan tool with the ability to pull the ABS codes. I removed and thoroughly cleaned my throttle body and MAF Sensor and since I put them back on the MIL hasn't came back on. The ABS light came on immediately after I started driving it though. So, I guess I'll bite the bullet and take it in to Ford for the ABS Scan. I'll post what they found in a week or two.
