05 LS parking brake

my parking brake (which is electronic), will engage with car in gear (which it's not suppose to), you have to pull up on the lever so i don't think i would engage it accidently, but i'm worried it mite engage on it's own, there again it probably never will, but i wouldn't want that thing to lock up at freeway speeds!, has anyone had this problem or know the fix, thanks

Are you saying that you can pull up on the parking brake switch with your foot on the brake and it engages?
It's supposed to do that. It also serves as an emergency brake, should the main brakes fail. Pull it once for light braking, again for heaver braking, and one more time for full braking.
If your foot is not on the main brake, the message display prompts you to pull it again to engage it.
Both my LSes work this way, and in every car that I have ever had, you could apply the parking brake while in gear or moving.

i stand corrected thanks, i just assumed since the e brake went off when you put car in gear it would not or should not activate at all with the car in gear, but i see how it works now, thanks, i too have owned lots and lots of cars, but this is the first one with an electronic e brake, learn something new every day! i'll still take the old cable system any day though
