Re: Ducati 1/12 "macchiato" 916 Scratchbuild (70%)

That Jesse rooke bike was a amazing job, you did really well, the bike in the image looks agressive, and retro, I like it!
Im begining a Ducati cafe racer too:

Hope you give me some advice, you have good skils and good taste in bikes.
Maisto is going to release a 1/12 Aprilia rsv 1000, so you can start with that kit.

Re: Ducati 1/12 "macchiato" 916 Scratchbuild (70%)

Hi Alex,
Thanks for the tip about the RSV4.....If its coming out as a diecast i will think twise about that one.
I have always wanted to build the 125 Aprilia......So it might be that one.
Cheers Martin

Like the design your going to work on....You know that anything you want advise on ..Just ask.
A set of RC166 Wheels would be great for your project....You know the ones that are an upgrade part for Tamiyas new kit.
Or you could make them yourself.

Although by the look of your sketch.....21 inch wheels would look better.

Cheers Martin

Re: Ducati 1/12 "macchiato" 916 Scratchbuild (70%)

Hi alex,
I actually like die-cast bikes....A lot of modellers don't like them.
But to me die-cast bikes just offer more options for people who wish
to build the bike they like.
And lets face it Bike modellers get a pretty raw deal....I mean how many M1 Yamaha's do tamiya want to bring out.
Just think how many bike models there would be if they had GUNS on them.....
Its a shame that when they bring their other bikes out...ie the recent Kawasaki and Suzuki Road bikes....They don't listen to public opinion....people have been screaming out for a Good GSXR 1000 and the Fire-blade for years...But Tamiya bring out bikes that are not even close to being best selling bikes.
I know Maisto/Newray do a good job with their die-casts (for the price)
But they are very poor when it comes to engine detail etc.
I've heard people say that CGM/ K's workshop resin kits are expensive.
but again people are least being given more options. And i know the work that goes into scratch building the original, And believe me they are cheap......Problem is people want everything for nothing. I looked at what it would have cost had i produced my Rockstar bike as a resin kit....and wait for it.....i would have been working for £1 ($1.50) an hour !

Anyway I've rambled on a bit.
Cheers Martin

Re: Ducati 1/12 "macchiato" 916 Scratchbuild (70%)

Hi all,

In the 1st picture, (27) are the Wheels and Rim disc brakes.
A little work left to do on them. But almost there.

The second picture is off the Chassis, Forks and swing arm after painting.
A little detail work to do but almost finished. (picture 28)
With regards to the paint, i will be writing a product comparison for my next
listing. ( a few days time, not weeks)
Between Alclad Chrome and Zero Chrome paints. Hopefully it will be of use
to somebody.

Well that's it for now, Will get that update online soon.
No soundtrack this week, ipod dead.....
Cheers Martin
