Unhappy 1987 Maxima Specs

I just bought a 87' Maxima. When i start it up the engine turns over but won't always start, or if it does start sometimes it makes a put-put noise and shuts off. What can that be? And my interior lights go on and off and the horn doesnt work but fuse is not blown on any of these. So where do i go from here?

Re: 1987 Maxima Specs

Pull the spark plugs, leave them connect their wires and hold them against the block. There should be a spark. If not there is a problem in the ignition.

Pull the fuse for the fuel pump and the starter. Turn the key and listen for a click from the fuel injectors. No click means no fuel is being dumped in when everything else is connected.

Check the connections on the air flow sensor as well.
