Stalling in the Cold

I drive a 1999 323i with roughly 45,000 miles on it. I started it up on real cold night, under 10 degrees, put it in reverse, hit the gas, barely moved. This concerned me greatly. I brought it in, they checked the engine and trans...nothing wrong.

This morning, under same cold conditions, it happened again. This time, the coolant light came on, albeit for just about 10 seconds id say before it went off on its own.

Any thoughts, opinions, encouragement?

Re: Stalling in the Cold

OK, Where is the problem??? First trans. has not had a fluid tune-up. second, ten degrees and car not running for past 8 hrs. ALL fluids get thicker as the temp goes down, 10w30 oil seems like 50w80 unitll it starts to warm up, trans fluid the same way. trans fluid needs to warm up slightly, to flow thru the pump and ports correctly. Let the car warm up for 5 to ten min. when below ten degrees and you should not have a problem. Get fluid and trans filter change when weather warms up.. should be done every 30 to 50 k miles any way. Hope this helps. Later...Mark.
