OBC Code Button, NJ Alarm Installer Recommendations
Okay, so I've had my '92 325i a week now, and I'm still learning its features. All week, I was afraid to press the Code button on the OBC, thinking the car might go into immobilized mode and I don't have the code to disable it. Till of course I learned that you actually set the code each time you activate it, doh! But then when I did press it, nothing happened (aaargh!). An (non working) LED bulb mounted next to the cigarette lighter is evidence that an aftermarket alarm system had been installed at some point in this vehicle's life, could they have disabled this Code feature when that was done? If so, any clue as to how I might get it working again?
2nd question: I'm looking for anyone from northern NJ that could recommend a car stereo outfit that has experience with Bimmers, as I'd like to get a new alarm system installed. I appreciate the help! |

The way it's supposed to work is--you have the car OFF with the key turned so that the computer is still illuminated. Hit CODE. Use the number buttons to enter your code. Hit SET (S/R). Turn the key off and take it out of the ignition. When you put the key back in and turn it to the first position, four dashes should show up (the chime may go "bong") and you enter your code (hit S/R when done) and start the car.
If this procedure does not work, yes, your car has been altered. Just thought it was possible you were not doing things right, as that feature can be a little confusing. |
