Testarossa plumbing
I'm building the Tamiya Mythos, working on detailing the engine. It's the same engine as the Testarossa kit. (Sweet kit- for the $15-$17 I've seen it for, you wouldn't guess there's full engine detail!) I've got the spark plugs wired up, but I can't tell how the cooling system should be hooked up. The radiators are large and obvious on either side of the engine, and look kinda silly without hoses attached to them. So- does anyone know where the oil and coolant ports are on this engine?

Re: Testarossa plumbing
I had some good pics of a TR motor extracted from the body for service, but they must be on my PC at home. I'll check for those later.
In the meantime, here's a site with 8 pics of a motor already removed and torn down, though I'm having trouble finding the hose connections myself... http://www.gpsracing.net/service.cfm...ID=7&langue=fr (go to "Ferrai Testarossa") I'd also recommend "borrowing" from other scales by looking for pics of the Pocher 1/8 scale TR and see what people do with that kit's motor. |

There are two hard lines from rad to rad that 'T' into the engine.
I'm not sure you can see them when the engine is installed though. The only pix that show those lines are ones with the engine removed... I'll look at my models later and let you know Nice pix BTW. Gotta love E-bay. Anyone remember what that motor sold for ?

Damn there are alot of hoses on that thing. Thanks for the pics!
Wow, that was on Ebay? And I missed it? That's exactly what i need- a Testarossa engine in my garage! That'd be perfect for a reference! So it looks like the coolant ports are the black rubber looking tubes sticking out near the alternator drive belts (Sweet, I've never seen a yellow Testarossa before! ). And maybe the oil goes into a port near the oil filter (removed in this pic), and out by the tube with the orange endcap here? Now, are the radiators on either side of the engine both water coolers, or is one an oil cooler? And which is which? |
