Had radiator replaced now leaking transmission fluid

I just had my radiator replaced and now transmission fluid is dripping out by the radiator, at the bottom, radiator cap side. How does the cooling system for transmission fluid work, does a line connect to the radiator? The mechanic is closed for the weekend I am trying to decide whether to drive the car. is it just a question of tightening a bolt, or could there be a problem with the radiator that was installed.

Thanks,

Re: Had radiator replaced now leaking transmission fluid

The transmission cooler lines go into the radiator by several different methods. flared fitting in which a nut on the line could be tightened up. Another fiiting in which there is an O-ring which gets tightened up similar to the flare fitting. The O-ring could be damaged or missing? And the third method is a compressed O-ring with a plastic retainer and clip which could be loose as well. Hopefully the line did'nt get twisted and wrecked during the installation. More than likely something did'nt get tightend up correctly.
It would'nt be a good idea to drive it without repairing it first.

Re: Had radiator replaced now leaking transmission fluid

Thanks for your reply, your description was very helpful. Unfortunately now, not only is the transmission fluid leaking, I can see coolant leaking from the same area under the car.

I think there is a problem with the radiator. I would not drive it with trans fluid or coolant leaking. You would be asking for an expensive repair job. The shop that installed the radiator needs to take a look at fix waht is wrong if its a defective part or faulty installation.
