chime indicating keyless remote error - 2003 Pontiac Grand Am

My keyless remote stopped working after I changed my batteries. My chime in my 2003 2.2engine Pontiac Grand Am rings consecutively 5 times which I have found indicates that the keyless remote has an error. I am trying to figure out how to get my keyless entry remotes to work again. does anyone know what I can do to get the keyless remotes to work again? Is there a method to reprogram them once you have changed the batteries? Please help.

Welcome to AF !

Your post has been moved as the section you posted in is being closed permanetly.

If they need reprogramed that requires the stealership.

When youre next to your car push and hold the lock and unlock buttons for 5-10 secs. it should reset, you'll hear a horn chirp.
Id also make sure the battery is in the right direction.
