Advance Auto Parts OBDII Codes
I got a check engine light coming on and went to Advance Auto Parts because they hook it up to their OBDII meter and give you a printout for free. I'm wanting to fix everything on the list so that my 96 Saturn SW1 is running back in tip top shape, but I'm having a hard time trying to pin that problems as I'm not familiar with these codes. And I was wondering if y'all could help me out with them:
P0134 O2 Sensor Bank 1 I'm guessing that my oxygen sensor needs replaced? P0171 System Too Lean Bank 1 I'm guessing that goes back to my O2 sensor needing replaced? P0327 Knock Sensor 1 Circuit Low Input Bank 1 Maybe still my O2 sensor again? P1133 Manufacturer Controler Fuel Air Metering ??? P0507 Idle Control System RPM High Possibly My TPS sensor needing replaced? I'm not sure of all these different codes. I do think so though that my oxygen sensor needs replaced and that'll improve my gas mileage and be a help in the least anyways. But the other ones I have no clue what to do about them at all. |

Re: Advance Auto Parts OBDII Codes
Does anybody know anything about these codes? Or as to start to what I need to replace?

Re: Advance Auto Parts OBDII Codes
Have you replaced the ECTS? Also check the wiring for the 02 sensor(s). I don't believe that 134 is for the sensor itself.

What's the ECTS? I haven't checked the wiring but I don't think it's the wiring. I think it's the sensor itself

Nevermind that's your engine coolant temperature sensor. Well wouldn't it get hot if that sensor was going out? I'll check it out as well

Re: Advance Auto Parts OBDII Codes
You need to replace the ECTS with an OEM brass tipped unit if you or the previous owner haven't already. Good place to get one is www.saturnparts.net. For removal and install you'll need a 6 point deep well socket wrench. Sensor costs about 20 bucks. The stock nylon unit can cause various problems to the car and they will happen eventually. Replace that first and see if you still have codes.

Re: Advance Auto Parts OBDII Codes
Awww I see. You say it can cause various problems to the car. What kinda problems are you talking about? Could it spider off and cause all of the problems I've got listed above? I'm gonna replace my ECTS, both o2 sensors and my TPS sensor and go from there. I'll post back after I do.
