Cool Starter problem

I have a 1957 Rambler Cross Contry SW with the 250 ci V8 and the 4 speed hydro. When I bought the car it had a spun bearing and was locked up so I pulled the engine and repaired it. After I installed the engine I'm having a starter/ ring gear problem. The starter acts like their is teath missing o the ring gear. I checked the gear and it looks OK. I had the starter rebuilt and it did have a bad bendex, but after installing it I sill have the same problem. It looks like the ring gear is bent.
My question is has any one had this problem? Is there any one who would have parts?? Is there any other transmission that I could swap in to my car???
Any or all help would be apprecated.
Thanks

Re: Starter problem

did the starter have any shims on it when it was removed frome the car the first time? sometimes they could be overlooked when removing or reinstalling them. i had the same problem with another car. you might want to start there. hope that helps you some.
