True rk, the computer is working to maintain the fuel air ratio, but even though the injectors are spraying the fuel, not all the fuel vaporizes in the cylinder, and not all the fuel burns. So the more you churn the mixture, the better the vaporization, the better the combustion.

Your van with the Vortec has Vortec heads. The air flow is suppose to be improved over your standard run of the mill heads. It probably has slightly larger ports to match the camshaft. I think the acceleration on mine works pretty good while getting decent gas mileage.

No doubt about that jimmy, the horse power did increase when the vortec heads arrived, and the gas mileage improved as well. -better air fuel mix.
