Tamiya's WRX kit from P.Man
Well Dan's had this kit all covered in his thread here before.
Thought i'd start a new one so that it keeps his one to the point on making it and i'd do a brief one on what i thought of it. Looks to be a very basic kit to build. In two days i have almost got it painted (apart from the body) The chassis is the biggest pain in the arse to paint due to it being molded in one. After looking at heaps of photo's etc i have decided to add different wheels and lower it. I will be adding wheels the same as i have on my car (primera). I have spent a lot of today cutting out the suspension arms to lower it...i have no idea how this will turn out....i'm just hoping all my mesurements are correct or i'm going to end up with a shit looking WRX. Had to make up some small bushers on the lathe at work to get the new wheels to fit as they are totally different in the way they attach to the disc's. The body i will paint last due to all the handling i will be doing to get the height looking just right. Will be painted TS50 The wheels.......what colour should i paint them ???? I like the look of the ones i'm putting on to be silver....i have seen a few already done like this and it looks good.......or should i stick with the gold ????

Stick with Gold for the wheels Warren, unless you want to go with Titanium grey again like the R34.
This would be inline with the last of the old shape rally cars. Would look good! An idea anyway! Silver sounds a bit dodgy to me! I thought you were going to do it like the 'Mines' version though, white with the gold multi-spkoes? Last edited by Guiddy; 11-05-2001 at 02:43 PM. |

Have finished mucking around getting the height right. Took lots of cutting/glueing testing ...pulling back apart etc etc. The car will be about 2-3mm lower. The tyres just tuck inside the wheel arches. .....but i think it makes a huge difference. Just got the rest of the painting to do then the body to sand and paint.

Well it's all painted and together.
Finished sanding the body over the last couple of days and added the primer. Hopefully tomorrow well get a couple of finish coats on the body. Everything has gone together well. Very nice basic kit. Only thing i had to do that was different was cut the metal rods that went into the wheels in half and took about 10mm out because of the different rims. Used superglue to glue them in place. Hopefully get pics soon

Hopefully be finished tomorrow and have some pics.
The tail lights are a pain in the arse to get in. They are so tight. The silver sticking paper they give you for the backs of the tail lights is hopeless. I ended up using bare metal foil for a better look to the lights. Just got to get some window tints from a place in town tomorrow, glue the windows in and get the body on and give it a big polish etc. So far a very nice kit. It looks so much better lowered down 2-3mm
