Strength of 81 Rabbit bumper???

Does anyone know how suitable it would be if I were to tow my 81 diesel rabbit with a bumper-type tow bar? I want to tow "her" behind my RV....and we already have a tow bar, so just wondering if the bumper would be strong enough for this type of towing....

thanks for any input!

Re: Strength of 81 Rabbit bumper???

I don't think I would recommend towing it buy the bumper because that model has the type of bumper that shocks on it to absorb impact. I would recommend a tow dolly, and that way your front wheels are off the ground and there are no chance of the car going in gear tearing up the trans, or putting wear on your trans towing it in neutral.
