Best Oil For A Corolla
What oil does everyone use for their Corollas? I currently use Valvoline Durablend 5w-30 and it has performed well. But with 60K miles coming up this fall or winter, I am thinking about a potential switch to Synthetic.
I have heard a good deal about AMSOIL and Schaeffer's and others, but I want your opinions on what would be a good oil for someone like me who drives about 10K miles per year or so in normal conditions in a central KY climate. Also what filters are good? I had been going to VIOC and they have their own filters. I normally drive 5K miles between oil and filter changes. |

motor oil
I run Valvoline 20-50 full syn formula. Change it every 2,000 miles, why so often? Becouse its a '78 Toyota Corolla with 503,000 miles on a 3K-C engine . Still runs like a top. Older the engine, and depending in the temprature of your climate, generaly you wanna go with thicker oil.

Re: Best Oil For A Corolla
I am thinking since you have to put the Corolla up on jack stands that draining every drop of oil is difficult unless you open the plug and then let it down. Am I wrong here?
BTW, I am probably going to switch to Mobil 1 next change just 400 miles away! How'd you decide on purolator? |

Re: Best Oil For A Corolla
I have a 1989 sr5, has 95000 miles. I use Amsoil 0w-30, but I live in Wyoming where it gets awful cold!
