You are only 14, quite small, but for the car, you and I are the same, there is a lot to learn.

Re: HI! im new and im looking forward to learning about cars

It gives me hope to see young enthusiasts who want to drive a manual.

I would suggest trying to see if your school offers a vocational school program that has a vehicle maintenance class. I know that was an option during my last two years of high school (even though I didn't take the vehicle maintenance class). I found the best way to learn is to do some research and do some work on a car. I know being 14 it may not be so simple, but getting your hands dirty is the best way to learn. It can be a bit intimidating at first, but once you get familiarized with using some tools and do a couple of oil changes, you'll get the hang of it.

I have learned most of what I know from browsing forums and trying to take on problems with my cars on my own, rather than taking it to a mechanic. Granted, it can take a bit before you build yourself a good tool collection that will allow you to do most jobs without having to stop and make another trip to the store (which can be prevented most of the time with some pre-work research, but sometimes things don't go as planned), but it also can teach you to work with what you have so long as it is not putting anyone in danger.

Doing your own work on your car can easily go back and forth between extremely frustrating to extremely gratifying. When you do work on your car that makes it a more pleasurable driving experience, it makes all the frustration worth it. Especially when a little research and experience with tools saves you big time money. I once had a Toyota Sienna (mini-van) that was starting, but would die if I let off the gas at all when the engine wasn't warm. I could have taken it to a mechanic, but instead I did a little research online. I found out that it what caused this was a bad/dirty idle air control (IAC) valve. I found that all I needed to do was to take this valve off, clean it with a can of carb cleaner (~$6) and an old toothbrush, and reassemble it. I found out afterwards that it saved me close to $600 in parts and labor for replacing a part that just needed to be cleaned.

So, long post short, keep at it. I applaud your ambition to learn more, and don't lose heart if you aren't getting it all as fast as you may like. It takes time and experience. Also, welcome to the forums.

Re: HI! im new and im looking forward to learning about cars

There are lot of things to know about a car. I think it takes some times to get clear idea about maintenance and fixing. I had suggest you to search your queries in ehow.com its a web site have tons of ton how to question and answer, there you can find your issue. Once you know about car maintenance then fixing the issue is the difficult one. More over there are lot of video tutorial available in http://www.buyautoparts.com/howto/
then choosing the best part for your car is important thing to consider. I bought my self directly from http://www.discountacparts.com/ where they are offering best parts at affordable rates. Congrats for your new car.
