Re: Nissan 300zx Vs. Mustang GT
A 300ZX n/a could probably take on mustang gts before the 99's.

Re: Nissan 300zx Vs. Mustang GT
I really doubt it...pre-99 GTs ran the quarter mile about 15 flat, N/A 300ZX runs mid to high 15's.

Aren't GT's V8? And stock N/As are 222Hp at the crank, so if GTs are V8s with more horsepower, it's not a fair comparision in terms of straighline boost.
As for the TT, as I answered it in your earlier threads, get it if you're willing to go with the maintainenance. Like most cars, if you maintain well, it will last long. There are as many TTs as N/As out there, both high mileages, both reliable engines, both running fine. VGs are excellent engines.

Horsepower is one thing, but isn't the 300zx a very heavy vehicle? I could have sworn I read a moderator saying that. With alot of weight and a na v6 you would think the 300zx would lose. However, when you consider everything I am not a fan of the Gt's look, or handling compared to the 300zx so I would go with it...but with the tt

Well the starter of this thread did not say what year Mustangs or a TT 300ZX. I think if it's a N/A 300ZX I would probably rule it out.
As far as a GT Stang vs. a 300ZXTT I guess it would come down to what car you like the look of and how your gonna want to get your power. Cause both cars have plenty of mods available and both can be made very fast very easy.

Re: Nissan 300zx Vs. Mustang GT
I would vote the more "fun" vehicle to be the 300zx. its smaller and lighter and will handle better then the mustang.
As for reliability it really depends on the individual car you are looking at rather then just the brand name. The mustangs are preaty rock solid as far as drivetrain goes. I am not sure about the 300zx's though but I havent heard of any piticular problems with the N/A but if your looking for a TT havesomeone who knows a good deal about turbochargers take a look at it. Those cars are getting old and depending on how it was taken care of those turbo's may be going bad. If your looking for a car to race your buddies in the GT wont be a bad choise at all. huge aftermarket and parts are fairly cheap. I would go for the 300zx(N/A) over the mustang GT. There are less of them around, they look almost exotic, they handle better and they weigh less. but thats just me and my taste's. As for the TT, no question about it I would rather have that one over all of the above :P |

Anyway, those who are not aware of Z32s (90+ 300ZX), a 2+2 N/A is about 3420 lbs, convertible is 3450 lbs, and a two-seater TT is 3300 lbs.

RWD Ford vehicles are really reliable. It's one thing Ford knows how to design and produce well. You wouldn't see all those old and banged up Mustangs, Aerostars, Rangers, T-Birds, Crown Vics and such still running around if they were that high maintanence and unreliable.

I've heard many problems with transmission and parts alone. Not trying to argue, but these were claims from the die-hard GT fans.

Re: Nissan 300zx Vs. Mustang GT
Well, I can definitely say without a doubt the 300zx auto transmissions are weak. My 1990 zx auto went out on me and after reading multiple forums that seems to be the trend with those.
