I think if I can find a FC, i'll buy it (turbo II), but if I can't, then i'll buy a 240SX.

Re: initial d help
Ok, about Turbos,
Im guessing all of the Trueno fans have watched all of initial D? Well, anyways, Turbo setups do add speed, but they actually slow you down when drifting on corners if you dont know what you are doing (which can be at least 75% of normal drifters) Turbo lag is the problem. And I would say to any AE86 owner, if you want to get more power, stay all N/A motor. Just go for a higher compression, ported heads, etc. It's a lot safer than turbos and it can save you a lot of money. Or if you want to do the whole initial D deal, go for an AE101 Motor. |

Yeah, I see what you mean. Hey I wasn't really into the Evo 8's but i've been reading alot about their motors and stuff, so does any on know if they're Manual trans?
I know they're AWD, I know you could drift with AWD cars, but do you think it's any harder(or easier)?

Re: initial d help
Evo VIII. I love that word. But just way too pricey and out of my league. All Evo 8's are stick shift.
Lancer Evo RS & VIII= 5 speed manual. Lancer Evo MR= 6 speed manual Well... are you planning on getting one? Because if you want to drift one as a starter, good luck. It's not as easy as you think. If you want to be able to drift a AWD, I hear you should master RWD drifting first. I hear it's harder to drift a AWD car and it wastes the tires more. |

I'm not saying I'm getting one but I would love one. They're a bit pricy for me too.
Yeah, I would think they're harder to drift.

Re: initial d help
think about it a minute, drifting is when you make wheels lose grip. Two wheels is hard enough, let alone 4

Yeah, I know that that's why I said it would be harder.

Re: initial d help
AE86 hatchback and coupe, have great handling for drifting, if thats what u are looking for, straight away power isnt the best around but if u find modifications u can fix that. Down here in Puerto Rico the hatchbacks are super rare and are either in junker condition or perfect condition. The Coupes are all over the place and are just as good and maybe better.

Or....... If you want to be really fast on togue, get a supercharged 4AGZE.
no turbo lag, but it will boost your preformance in higher in the mountains. BTW a skilled driver in a light under-powered car will toast a heavy monster like a Skyline. The skyline can't make even custom brakes last a good attack on touge!

Re: initial d help
Its a 1985 Toyota Carolla GTS, panda paint, Nardi wheel with fathers name ingraved in it, tokico shocks, TRD springs all round, 14" want.my.knobie's, panda paint, only thing that is missing from my car to make it the same would be the tofu sticker. I have the 20V with ITB's and a CF hood sitting in the garage tho :P Make it the same as the car after he poped the engine :P

Re: initial d help
The car is sooooo fun to drive. Its no powerhouse.
My 20V with ITB, full exhaust, 12.5:1 compression, full valvetrain and custom cams and custom exhaust full stand alone ECU might get me 250-270whp. But thats pushing it. Just think of it this way, straight roads are made for fast cars, corners are for fast drivers.

Re: initial d help
The only reason the AE86 was used is because it is an excellent car for most motorsport and was very cheap, but ever since the show was released on Australia the price of them is so high, even for the Australian delivered 85 it really pisses me off because I wanted one long before Initial D became a TV show
The other reason it was used is its the car that turned drifting into a sport because Keiichi Tsuchiya started to drift his 86 through downhill corners in race competition to carry extra speed and Taks technique is Keiichi's as a driver they are supposed to be the same, Keiichi also makes a small cameo on Initial D, in series 1. He calls Bunta just before Tak races Ry Takahashi
