Re: would you buy zx2 again??

I bought a '98 back in 2000 with 40,000 miles. Have tripled the miles with no problem. It actually runs better now then the day i bought it. Still no rust! and i live in Michigan!

Re: would you buy zx2 again??

As far as an '03, hell ya I would. But if ford wasn't so dense and still made the ZX2 with a 180+hp Zetec, a 6 speed, and super nice interior and racing package, I'd never buy another car! EVER!

Re: would you buy zx2 again??

I would buy a new 2000 ZX2 with no problem at all even for the same purchase price. It's been the best car ever. 100,000 miles before I even noticed anything with the engine. I had some PM done after 100k, timing belt, hoses, other belts, water pump, fuel filter, etc.

Every great car I have ever owned they stopped making that model. I guess because it don't break down as much as the others. lol

Re: would you buy zx2 again??

Yes I would.
Hi there. Yep I'm a newbie.
I go by the name Rocky.
My DD is a 2001, zx2, I have had him since
new. Manford reminds me of the days I use
to drive Capri's except this on has manners .
Mine is an auto. I would stay with an automatic
'cause I'm very good at destroying manuals. I've
tried many times to learn but it gets very spendy
when I'm behind the wheel. .
My toy is a 1987 Merkur XR4ti. Just got this one
last month. Pre mid-life crisis .
Any way, at 54,000 miles he done the job of being
my main transportation. I also know that he's up for
some serious tune ups. So I'll be peeking at this forum
often.
Thanks for the posts and cont. ed.

Later, Rocky

Thumbs up Re: would you buy zx2 again??

Given the age of the original post, the point may be moot, but I'm on my second ZX2, no complaints.

First one was a 2000 MTX, factory fresh, not a problem to be had.
I even put it under water once (don't ask) and once I got the smell out, drove it for 2 more years before an unfortunate car-jacking* totalled it at 122K miles.

I bought a 2003 MTX as a replacement (currently at 72K miles) and have had the same solid reliability, I'm either lucky or the ZX2 is well built

*- I ran over a hydraulic floor-jack someone had dropped onto I-95.
Aside from the hood showing a 1" gap, it looked and ran fine, so I continued to NC and back from Florida, found out the frame was bent when I brought it in for repair, they totalled it on the spot.

Re: would you buy zx2 again??

Yes I would, I got a 2001 two years ago and the only problem up untill 2 weeks ago was an altinator that fried due to corrosion on the terminals. Now I have feul problems though.

Re: would you buy zx2 again??

Your damn right i would buy another zx2!!! I bout my 02 in january of 06 with 35k miles. Now (july 7th) i've only had to replace the water pump. I've done an number of mods, including but not limited to, 21mm rear sway bar, intrax springs, b&m short shifter, zxtuner weighted shift knob, poly sway bar endlinks and D bushings, cai, ported/polished tb, knocker mod, side exit exhaust, a/c removal, big stereo system, motor mount inserts etc. This car is sooooooo fun to drive. Its comfy, quick, handles like its on rails, gets great fuel milage, and looks good doing it!!! so.. yes... i would buy another.
