Would this kill my battery?

Ok, so I have no experience with cars.. so I apologize if this is a stupid question!
Last week I ran over a pothole (it wasn't even that big, but whatever) and it effed up my head unit (the cd and radio still works, but my ipod connection doesn't)
I was going to get it fixed but I haven't gotten around to it yet. My question is, if I ran over the pothole would it mess up the wires of my cd player, and if so, would it do something to drain my battery? I don't even know if that makes sense... but out of nowhere my stupid car battery just died... and it's farily new, June of '08. They probably aren't related but I just find it weird that my radio gets messed up and then a week later my battery dies. What do you think?

Re: Would this kill my battery?

You apparently hit the pothole harder than you though.

It's not unheard of for batteries to have open circuits internally due to being jarred like yours might have been. Check the voltage on the battery and see if the voltage is something more like 10-11 Vdc. If so you might have dropped a cell (each cell is 2V).

Re: Would this kill my battery?

Thanks for the comment. I have another question: we jumped my car, drove it to Walmart (I have a walmart battery) and they checked it for me - my battery is good. Drove to Auto Zone, they checked my alternator and my battery again... both good.
Whyyyy then is my car dying? I literally turned it off for 1 minute to go inside the gas station and when I came out it was dead. When we jump start it up though it runs perfectly.
=(

Re: Would this kill my battery?

You need to make sure your battery cables are clean and tight. Do you have a multimeter so you can check your battery voltage at the battery terminals as well as at the battery cables?

Check the grounds for the negative cable. The chassis connector may look clean and tight, but there could be rust lurking under the bolt head.

Re: Would this kill my battery?

A voltage drop is about the only way to properly test battery cables. When you say the battery is dead do you mean the car won't start or nothing in the car works? You might have a bad starter.

Disconnect your cd/radio out of the circut(equation) and see if the problem goes away.could have messed up some wiring back there when u hit that pothole.
