1992 ciera s 3.3 l tcc solenoid replacement..Please help me!

My car runs great for like 30min then stops and starts again usually after waiting a little bit..like 5 min. and runs again a bit then stops again (running less time) and stops again..and starts again ..and repeats this repeatedly. I think I have to replace the tcc solenoid. I have replaced the spark plugs, some spark plug wires (dont think its spark plug wires), fuel filter, coil pack, throttle position sensor, many emissions hoses (dont see any leaks but haven't checked extreamly close).

Is there anything else that could cause this problem?

If i gotta replace the tcc solenoid, where is it in transmission? What do I have to take off to get to it? And is there a website to see a drawing of my trans. to help me?

Thanks for any help!!!

Welcome to AF. Does it only die slowing down, start in neutral, die again when put in gea,r you did not describe the condition of the stall here.

Lots of possibilities here, sticking egr, dirty throttle body, low fuel pressure, no one answer here without going thru the basics. "Chokes out", tough description based on a FI car, again, when you restart does it stall when you put in dr?

No it does not choke out when 1st put in drive...it chokes out after warming (30min into drive)driving the car IN DRIVE...and choke out WHEN MOVING (at any speed)..not at a stop...

Again...it chokes out when the car is moving IN DRIVE...moving like normal...then suddenly chokes out...after running perfectly...and btw..check engine light is NOT on...

When I restart after stalling out...it runs for a bit again....and then while driving IN DRIVE moving at any speed suddenly stalls again...

If it was a sticking EGR wouldnt the "service engine light" be on?...It is not on.

How do I check for low fuel pressure?
Could I need a new canister?
Could it be a vacuum leak somewhere?
If I use carb. cleaner and spray the connections at the vacuum hoses, I was told the rpm's would increase IF THERE IS A VACUUM LEAK. Is that true? BTW the car has fuel injection.

Are you saying you do not think it is the tcc solenoid????

Thank you for helping!!!

Ps..have sprayed out throttle body

This is not a TCC problem based on your description, have the fuel pressure tested for starters, both spark and fuel pressure should be tested at the time it stalls and fails to start, this is difficult to do of course. Not a vacuum leak issue either, you may want to consider geting on site professional help with this before spending anything on the problem. FP is tested with an FP gage.

If it is a fuel pressure problem, could I fix this with a new fuel pump?..or are there other parts that could cause a pressure problem?

BTW, the car has 109.000 miles with regular maintance.

Once again, I really appreciate your help!!

Not necessarily, I had problems with my EGR valve not working correctly on several occasions and the check engine light never came on.
Look at it while revving the motor up and down, the diaphragm should not move.
If this happens on a regular basis I would have a shop try to isolate the problem before changing any parts. You can waste alot of money quickly by changing good parts.

Good stuff , MRbizness1, but the egr cannot be checked this way, it will not operate in neutral. We keep bouncing around here, yes a new fp will fix a loss of pressure, along with with a new fuel filter and consequent checking of the FP regulator, but you are still not ready for this.

There is no EGR valve on my car (3.3 V6)..the fuel pump is located inside the gas tank (so I'd rather see if anything else could be wrong).....what else could cause the problem?

Thanks

Correct on the egr, but the info on post 6 still applies.

i had this same problem on my 90 cutlass supreme 3.1 and it was due to 3 faulty fuel injectors.

Would much rather clean injectors than remove fuel pump!..How hard was it cleaning the injectors?..Did you remove each one and spray out with cleaner?
I have added injector cleaner to gas...so.....guess I gotta clean each one out.

Thanks for the input!!

I put a screwdriver to each injector, then put other end of screwdriver to ear while engine running..clicking from each injector...do I need to make other checks for fuel injectors?

When the car suddenly turns off I hear some noise..like a click..
