Will it start spraying starter fluid in the intake, good spark at the plugs?

Re: 89 Oldsmobile Cutless

Yes there i spark and if I spray starting fluid in the intake it will start but as soon as I stop spraying the starting fluid it shuts off. Again gas is flowing in but it will not run. I don't understand why this is happening and it has a bunch of mechanics saying they have never seen this before. I have to figure this out I cant let the car win. Help

Re: 89 Oldsmobile Cutless

Good lessons for all always check the most basic of basic things first found the problem why it would not start.............................BLOWN FUSE..... in the glove box. Thanks for all the help and some of the things I did check or replaced needed to be replaced anyway so if it happens again at least I know where to start.

Re: 89 Oldsmobile Cutless

The fuel injectors. Now the car runs but the power seems reel low. When I try to excelerate the car either wants to cut out/ shut off or it may at times actually excelerate. So I still have problems with it.

Look pal try testing the resistance on the injectors. Should be between 11.8-13.1 range. If any lower than 10 they're junk. Hope this helps. We had the same problem with our '91 3.1 L Cutlass and replaced 4 injectors and a fuel pressure regulator and it runs fine Yeah! for once prob. solved! Have fun
