what says borla?
borla is a company that makes a very nice exhaust setup for these cars but you might only have a downpipe or something like that. a better site for info on these cars is www.3si.org but don't post questions like this right away there or people might flame you. just go to the search feature and type in exhaust or borla or loud exhaust or something and you will probably find the info that you need.

Re: my 3000gt
i have a 3000GT SL and i had custom exhaust made. I got 2 N1 mufflers and have 2.5" piping to the Y-pipe and then 2.5" to the mufflers and it is pretty loud. If you want really loud, you could do the set up i did and get a mean agressive deep tone, very noticable. Also get a N/A downpipe at 3sxperformance.com and headers. That will make your exhaust a shit load louder.

Re: my 3000gt
downpipe is the same thing as a header...just fyi
Get a custom made catback(or buy borla or atr for 700bucks) Go with 2.5inchs, any larger and your low-end torque will suffer being that it is an SL. Then get 2 mufflers that you like with 3-4inch exits and get all that put on, then go with the NA downpipe if that isn't loud enough for you.

ok my mufflers are borla and i think i have a pretty good size leak or something in the down pipe would that cause the car to not have the loud sound?

Re: my 3000gt
A leak might actually make it louder, as air is escaping prior to being 'muffled'. When my header gaskets leaked on my honda the car was noticeably louder, and made an almost 'sputtering' deeper tone from under the car/in the engine bay(both gaskets were leaking) when I gunned the gas.
Sorry I don't know the emissions answer off the top of my head.

Re: my 3000gt
94-95 Cars: The 94 and 95 cars are mixed between Fed-Spec and Cali-Spec so you need to check before ordering to determine which model you have.
TIP! Determining your Pipe: We recommend that you check your undercarriage to see which downpipe you need before ordering. An easy way to check is look for the O2 sensor. If it is back in the middle of the car just before the main cat, you need the Fed-Spec pipe, if it is right under the oil pan of the motor and you see the bubble of the front pre-cat, you need the Cali-spec pipe. This is on http://www.3sxperformance.com/exhaust-na.asp and they have pictures too, if you need them to see what you are looking for.
