1995 S-10 Blazer-Dome/Courtesy lights do not cut off
I have a 1995 S-10 Blazer. The Dome/Courtesy lights normally remain a short period of time after the doors are closed, then cut themselves off. My problem is that now they do not cut themselves off, they stay on all of the time (and get very hot). I have removed all of the bulbs until this can be corrected. Where is the timer/relay that controls this function and how is it replaced? Will this part be a dealer only item?
Thanks, Eddie |

Re: 1995 S-10 Blazer-Dome/Courtesy lights do not cut off
Don't have an answer for you, but on my 98 there is a dome override switch beneath the cabin dimmer--if you hit this in the dome lights won't come on unless you turn the dimmer full up...might be a workaround for you so you can still have light on occasion without screwing the bulbs back in...

Re: 1995 S-10 Blazer-Dome/Courtesy lights do not cut off
Assuming that you have checks the obvious switches on the dome light and the dash controls check the rear tail gate lock. Does it function smootly. If it sticks it will cause the dome light to stay on and drain your battery. It could also cuase the door locks to hol din the unlock or lock position and again will drain the battery. If this is it GM can rebuild he assembly at the dealership for a few dollars

Re: 1995 S-10 Blazer-Dome/Courtesy lights do not cut off
Had same problem once on my -95 but it was just the instrumentation lighting dimmer that was turned to max, that turns the interion lights on.
If you have not tried it yet, just turn the dimmer down... /Freddy |

Rear glass pin switch would be my first suspect. Also as mentioned the dimmer switch as well.
I would suspect those before the relay. You can get schematics from onlinerepairmanuals.com. I bought one from him and foune it very helpful. |

Re: 1995 S-10 Blazer-Dome/Courtesy lights do not cut off
I found that if I kick with my left foot under the dash my lights finally go off I'll find out more in the morning it has to be a ground or connection in that area

Re: 1995 S-10 Blazer-Dome/Courtesy lights do not cut off
Not sure what year your dealing with or if my issues were early production related, but i fount the large wire harness that is just left of the column was open and several wires were scraping against the main dash support.
the way the wiring was ran there is a lot of "potential" for problems. Like earlier posts have said though, check the pin switch operation. Either the drivers door since its used the most or the rear passengers since its used the least. |

Re: 1995 S-10 Blazer-Dome/Courtesy lights do not cut off
Well still not finding the wire problem under the dash for the dome lights but I wired in a over ride switch. Now I'm throwing a code for knock sensor and my trany is not shifting normaly.. would the knock sensor do that?
