Question Weird new clutch slipping problem

98 Eclipse GST. Clutch started slipping so I had it replaced. The master and slave clutch cylinders blew after the new clutch was installed so they were replaced. Ever since the clutch hasn't worked or felt right. The weird part is that when the car is cold, the clutch pedal feels right and works right. Once the car heats up though, the clutch pedal increases in pressure to the point where the clutch starts slipping like I'm pushing the pedal in slightly. Two shops, one dealership later...no one can fix it. I've gone through three new clutches and four sets of master and slave cylinders thinking it was faulty parts; no luck. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you might have crankwalk.

Re: Weird new clutch slipping problem

The dealership mentioned something about crank lock, but that doesn't make sense to me regarding the problem gets worse when the engine heats up. You'd think crank lock would cause problems at all temperatures.

Re: Weird new clutch slipping problem

After reviewing some docs on crankwalk, it definitely sounds like what I'm experiencing. Thanks for the tip.
