G35 6mt Vs Automatic!??
Hey everyone! Im looking into (Hopefully) get a G35 Coupe. I was wondering... since the automatic has a sports shifter... Is it still as good as the 6mt? I know the 6mt is nice but can it funcion the same as the 6mt? Im used to driving a manual.. but basically i was wondering if i can get the same power out of an automatic sport shifter verson.

Re: G35 6mt Vs Automatic!??
I'm not 100% on the Nissan's but I know that most "sport" shifts are still governed by the computer. So it won't let you stay at a particular rpm if the computer feels it's too high. Other then paddle shifters (which are sort of the same idea but with more user control). A true manual will always be faster then a auto, sport shifter or not. Plus if your used to a manual it will be odd and a bit distressing, i'm sure to go to an auto. I know i hate the winter when i'm stuck in my suv and i'm looking for the clutch everytime i brake.

Re: G35 6mt Vs Automatic!??
Ok i see. Yesterday i went to carmax to test drive a red 04' G35 coupe and i loved it! The only thing is that it was that automatic with a sports shifter. When i was driving it i seen the sports shifter.. but i didnt mess with it because i didnt know how to work it. Other then that the car has serious power even with the A/C on. But i ended up not getting the car because it has been hit in the front. =( So now we are going to Infiniti to look at an 05' model. Basically if that red G35 was flawless then i would of had that automatic red G. Oh well... So do you suggest a 6mt?

Re: G35 6mt Vs Automatic!??
Its on the driver. The Auto/Sports shifter is good when you live in an area with alot of traffic or you are too lazy to shift gears yourself .
If you want total control of your car than the manual gear box is the way to go BTW the sports shifter is really easy to use. You will see a + and a -. when you want to shift up just push your shifter to the + and when you want to shift down push your shifter to the - side. |

i would go with the 6mt because its more fuel eficient and u control your car. but if u live in the city and dont want to ruin ur clutch get the auto.
