996 Turbo vs. 996 GT2
which would you prefer??? more power, 2wd in the GT2. enough power, more comfort, lower price in the Turbo. i would probably take the GT2 cuz it's more powerful and i like the rear wheel drive, less weight, faster, etc.......

i say gt2
more appealing. more of a drivers car. you have to be on edge with it. of course i am going by car mag editors, but they drove both, i dint, so i must say, since i love the sensory overload of a non computer aided car, i go gt2 the turbo helps you... the gt2 will bite you... i like that... you have to have balls to drive that thing all out... |

GT2, even though they have like identical numbers, i love RWD, that AWD stuff is dumb, can't to doughnuts.

Besides the more impressive statistics of the GT2, It is rarer and has a very badass wing. I don't like AWD either, well not on a Turbo anyways. BTW, I went to my Porsche dealership today and there was a sweet 911 Turbo (2001) parked in the service area. I was awestruck.

what are "like identical numbers"?
the two cars are different in many ways. 40 more hp for the gt2, and rwd only. that makes it a bit quicker to respond on launch... it also lacks alot of the controller gadgetry... which makes the driver more of a driver, less of a sterile operator. and the times are quicker and faster with the gt2, not near identical. when you are looking at cars that run 0-60 in the 4sec range, 1 tenth of a second does not mean near identical. that could be the difference b/n a supercar and a sports car. think about it. |

What if you threw in the new RUF R Turbo, So it's a totally aftermarket car (Not a kit, RUF actually builds there own Turbo Twins), but it has somewhat similar stats to that of the GT2. 520 Bhp out of a TT Flat-6 and it can be ordered with RWD only. I'd say it's better because of the enhanced Aerodynamics and better looks/Performance.

i was not getting defensive, just pointing out that tenths of a second, when in that range, are huge...
and the ride control and driver feel between the two cars is hugely different... for the ruf though, i would rather have that, b/c there are not near as many as there are gonna be stock turbos or gt2s |

Ya, I'm not usually fond of aftermarket cars, but I do like this one, it's the cover car of Porsche excellence Magazine right now, I think that there will be about 25 actual factory-built ones, but there will be kits so the numbers are uncountable.
