Arrow Aoshima RS Turbo Skyline Silhouette

Hey everyone,
While I am finishing up one of my other kits, I am slowly starting my Aoshima RS Turbo Skyline Silhouette. This kit is not easy to come across however there are tons of molding lines which I sanded out. There were so many that I had to ook at reference pics to make sure I didn't sand any details away. I will get ready to primer tomorrow. Here are some pics of how the kit looks.
As with all Skylines, this thing is a beast.

Re: Aoshima RS Turbo Skyline Silhouette

Hi everybody at AF.

It's been about 5 years since I last posted. I recently decided to resume my long lost hobby after putting it on hold when I left for college. I have been working a full-time job for the last 2 years, and now attending graduate school. I determined that building model cars is a passion of mine that helps me relax and take a step away from my busy life.

I am resuming the completion of my Aoshima kit that tonioseven, who I believe is still here, sent me. I will keep my promise (if you remember it) and show you the finished product!

Here's what I have so far. Everything is primed. I got the first color on the body painted as well as the rims.

Re: Aoshima RS Turbo Skyline Silhouette

While I wait for the body to fully dry before I spray the lower portion of the body black, I began the interior. I only have an hour or so a day to work on this so is what I did! I'm going to apply the bare-metal foil to the rest of the cabin (see ref pic attached).

Hi!!

Nice kit. Seems like you're serious about make a good build. I'll follow that post.

I was and I'm tempted by this kit. But never make the final step to buy it. It's well detailed? It worth the time and the price??

It is pretty detailed for a simple out of the box kit. As far as I can tell, every piece has been fairly accurate when compared to the ref pics that I found online.

It's been worth the time so far. And it was given to me as a gift, so i don't know how much it is.

Yea, I just love the "raw-ness" of old race cars. Their flare gives them a great presence.

Thank youuu. I think I'm going to paint the cabin with TS-17 (gloss aluminum) and just apply the bare-metal foil to certain panels to give it highlight diff textures and to give some color instead of all one tone. If that makes sense?

I want to reproduce a thin 1 mm black stripe that goes across the lower portion of the car. Anyone have advice of how to do that. So I just try to mask it or is there a easier way using decals or another method?

Re: Aoshima RS Turbo Skyline Silhouette

This took me longer than it should have but I matched the seat color as good as I could. Added some talcum powder into the paint to give it a more realistic look.

Re: Aoshima RS Turbo Skyline Silhouette

Quick test fit. I painted the back of the seat. It was tough since I had to create my own masking. I didn't want to simply paint the whole backing black. It turned out okay, not perfect tho. I also painted the rubber shift boot. Came out alittle shinier than I wanted. I used Tamiya semi gloss black.

Re: Aoshima RS Turbo Skyline Silhouette

So my progress has been slow with work and school. but the interior is almost done! What do you think so far? I used BMF to highlight certain panels in the cabin. I'm looking to make this build as accurate as possible without adding any additional accessories (ie.seat belts).

Re: Aoshima RS Turbo Skyline Silhouette

Wow the last month was busy. I only had time to paint a piece here and there...and glue a piece here and there lol. So here's what I have so far. The next step is to polish the paint, paint the window trims, and add the decals. Please let me know what you think, whether it's good or bad. I welcome all criticism that I can learn from.

Re: Aoshima RS Turbo Skyline Silhouette

Nobody following? lol Ok, well I'm gonna keep on building :/ I'm rubbing the body down with some 3M compound and then applying the decals. I think not using a clear coat adds a more realistic effect in this case. Cars such as this generally aren't glossy like the ones in a showroom.
