1996 Explorer Sport clutch/transmission? not right! Any suggestions?
Loving my '96 Explorer Sport.... But getting very tired of the problems with the clutch. It seems to want to engage at the floor and I have to stand on it to get it to work sometimes. I have replaced it 3 times and still does it. The shift into 2nd is the worst for some reason. It does want to move even with the clutch all the way to the floor. I have been told that there is no adjustment to this clutch. Is anyone else having this problem? Is it true that the clutch is not adjustable? What do I have to do cut a hole in the floor to get the clutch to disengage? Also had difficulty with engine lights comming on. Get one sensor fixed and another one goes bad, had all three replaced several times and still engine light comes on about a mile away from the mechanic! Finally just turned the light off. Nothing wrong with the engine, just those darn sensors!!!

what part of the clutch system did you replace 3 times? check the slave cylinder for leaks theres a big rubber thing on the tranny bellhousing you can remove to inspect it. is it losing fluid? there might be some air in the system did you bleed it? the clutch should automatically adjust.
