4.3L Cat-Back System?
I already searched the forums and found no real topic related to my question. I need to purchase a cat-back system for my blazer but am having trouble finding one. I really just need to get it so I can pass inspection. I also don't have the time to build one from scratch, like I previously did with my last truck. Anyone know of any companies that makes this?

Re: 4.3L Cat-Back System?
There are a few companies that make performance catbacks for the s-series trucks, depending on your budget. Borla, Dynomax, and Gibson are the ones that come to mind.

Re: 4.3L Cat-Back System?
I checked out all the companies you said... nothing. Not one of them makes a kit for my car (2000 S-10 Blazer LT 4Dr 4WD). Any other suggestions??

Re: 4.3L Cat-Back System?
heres the dynomax system;
http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...115+4294907039 seems that gibson only makes a system for 95-99 4dr and the 00-03 system is only for the zr2. i have a borla catalog that has the blazer system but it is not on borla's site. it might only be for the 95-99 but i'll see if i can find the part # for that one.

Re: 4.3L Cat-Back System?
Gibson makes a catback for these trucks. I ordered a gibson catback for my 98 2-dr. I have heard and seen a dynomax, borla, and a gibson. The borla and gibson sounded good, the dynomax sounded loud and cheap. In my opinion the gibson sounded great, was throaty but not loud, was pretty much the same for the borla, but the price was the determining factor from these two.

Re: 4.3L Cat-Back System?
I have the exact same vehicle as you and had to replace the cat-back system about a year and a half ago. I feel your pain. I had taken it to Midas for inspection (fully expecting it to pass with flying colors) and they managed to find a couple of pinholes in the outermost layer of the underside of the muffler and quoted me $400+ (just for the muffler and tailpipe). I don't even think it was leaking exhaust. Of course, after cursing under my breath something like "when hell freezes over" I set about looking for the system. It was difficult -- no one stocked it and most places did not even have a listing. I wound up finding a place in downtown Philly that ordered it for me (Walker does in fact make all of the parts -- at least they did then) and, if memory serves me correctly, it cost me about $230.00 and was an exact match right down to the hanger bar. I remember that I found the place by starting at Walker's web site and their listing of authorized sellers. Good luck and let us know if you find one. At least you get to replace yours in May! (mine was in January).
I found the link: http://www.walkerexhaust.com/ Click on "catalog". They have it and list all the part numbers you need. |

They have the cat-back system already made?

Re: 4.3L Cat-Back System?
They have all of the OEM-style parts. On the original system, everything is welded together. On replacement systems, the parts (ie. muffler and tailpipe) are separate items and you clamp them together. So basically, the "cat-back" system for your vehicle consists of the following parts:
31574 - gasket 21364 - muffler 36133 - muffler strap 35336 - clamp 55032 - tailpipe 36221 - insulator (2) |
