Question What does it take to open a drag strip?

i have always wanted to open my own drag strip since i was a kid. i have recently come across some money and i was hoping to open one... PLEASE HELP if you know any of the processes, or fees involved in building a NHRA approved drag strip

Does anyone know what it takes to get a thing like this started?

Re: What does it take to open a drag strip?

well im glad to help.

1ST what you need to do is buy the land for it (probably at least a 2 mile sqr. lot for the strip and the parking ect)

2nd you need to go to the city and get all applicable permits and licenses

you will need to buy about 10 grand worth of concrete blockades for the safety

you will need to talk to your city officials about getting a ambulance and firetruck on site whenever your strip is open *hardest*

you will want to get people to sign a waver as well for all lawsuits possible (do research)

it will cost alot of money just to pave it you are looking at about 500+ gs to do EVERYTHING from benches to concrete to electrical down lights and stuff

they also have laws and speeds and times in some states so you cant go over a 14. q. mile if you dont have certain safety features

the track here will allow a 4 second quarter mile if you have everything from seats to roll bars to fire safety

if they get a car to do that time

basically call email or find your citys info center and talk to a person about it.

if you want to build a racing strip for your own and friends use then what you can do is go buy a acre of land on non state property and get it paved make it about 4 lanes wide and 1/2 mile long (48 ft wide) and then set your trip and drive very slow (10 mph) and the second your car hits 1/4 mile stop immediatly and paint some lines

make sure you put no tresspassing signs and racing in progress signs so no one thinks they can use it when they want and then sue you when they crash)

if your thinking about it maybe add a concrete slab as well for drifting too

a friend of mine has a private road to his house that he has a 100 mph sign on and he uses that as a drag strip

got any more questions email me
