electrical short

i have a short in my 93 dodge daytona es. I tested the fuses with the positive battery terminal off and a test light clip connected to the terminal. the light does not come on at all on any of the fuses, but when i takethe test light and put it straight to the positive battery terminal there is a faint light that comes on.
I am thinking that the positive battery terminal isgrounding out somewhere but i checked it out and it is not touching anything and the insulation is all intact and not stripped.
If anyone has any other ideas on how to test for a short I would be more than willing to here it.

thanks

Re: Re: electrical short

the battery has a drain i tested it with a test light and a multimeter. There is some kind of draw in the fuse box, but all the fuses test out to be fine. There is one wire that connects the fuse box to the battery and i disconnected it and there was no short if that is disconnected, but the car wont run. I am thinking it may be a relay but i am not sure how to test a relay. If you have any suggestions let me know.

Re: electrical short

try this. connect that multimeter of yours inline between the negative cable clamp and battery terminal. set it to amp reading. see how much draw. if smaller then go down in current. ( you don't want to blow internal fuse )
should be about 300 mA or less I think can't remember might be 100mA or less. anyway if higher than that pull fuses to see which takes reading down and narrow from there.
