Re: What age are you guys mostly, and what kind of work do you do?

I'm 16 in grade 11. I work part time setting up decks on new houses. In the future I plan on opening up a restaurant and a car audio/tint/exhaust shop. The reason I got a truck was so that I could haul my quad around. I usually like to listen to rap music but lately I havent heard any rap songs that excite me so now I listen to pretty much everything.

Re: What age are you guys mostly, and what kind of work do you do?

I'm a 30 year old elevator mechanic here in Rochester, NY. I enjoy driving my '01 GMC JOBOX/CHILD TRANSPORTER to my exciting job in vertical transportation.

Just to clear the air about my job...

YES, I have seen "Speed" (why does everyone ask me that?)

If I'm standing in the elevator, don't ask me "Is this thing safe to get on?", If it wasn't, I sure as hell wouldn't be on it!

Please don't ask me if my job has alot of Ups and Downs

And rememeber, you buy the elevator, we give you the shaft!

We do pretty good for ourselves. Like every other trade, it takes a while before you get up to journeyman status. Once you get there, it's a great living.

OH, I forgot one thing....

NO, I don't work for OTIS!!!!!

Re: What age are you guys mostly, and what kind of work do you do?

I drive the 2003 regular cab and I am 44 and a union fire sprinkler fitter.

The wife drives the 2006 Silverado Crew Cab and she is a little older than me and we own a beauty salon that she runs.

I drive the crew cab when we haul the 4 wheelers or go on the weekends.

Don't fret man, it took me 5 years and a 1 summer session to finish. Went to Blinn in Bryan the first two, loved it, then went to Sam. Hated Huntsville.

I am 36 and work in facilities maintenance and always deal with the "elevator guy". We use a company by the name of United Elevator here in Ft.Worth. I am always messing around with the students here when they ask if everything is alright when myself and the elevator guy get on for a ride. I tell them "we're about to find out"! Seriously, we have 3 old Dovers (2 passenger and 1 freight) with old switch logic panels. We are hoping to rip everything out and redo the elevator mechanical rooms with new pumps, panels, and wiring. In addition, we are going to upgrade the interiors of the cars. I always enjoy climbing down in the pit when a student drops their keys down the shaft, and my personal favorite is riding on top of the cars!!! People freak out when that happens!

Re: What age are you guys mostly, and what kind of work do you do?

I'm 25 (will be 26 next month) and I'm a supervisor in a Dairy Plant (Cheese Department) Just bought my '01 Silverado in January and LOVING it! I live in rural Minnesota so needed a 4x4 to make it to work during the winter months, because cows don't care if it's blizzarding out or if it's christmas for that matter so I have to continue making cheese.

Also I have a 2005 Sportsman that I need to haul around, so this was better than getting a trailer and pulling it with my Impala.

Also out here in the sticks, ALOT of younger people drive Silverados. At least the working younger people, even a good percentage of the ladies. Generally it's the Farmers and buisness owners that drive the new ones, and the kids like me that drive the used ones.

Im not frettin, I'm just about done forever! I got a degree from Blinn, too. Took a lot of my aTm hours there, actually. I know a few people at SHU... did a couple of survey jobs in Huntsvill as well. It was actually really nice to be there cuz it got me out of College Station for a while. I'm startin to be ready to leave this town.

Re: What age are you guys mostly, and what kind of work do you do?

I'm 30 and i drive a 2000 1500 2WD 4.8, i bought it last year (2005 august) and it seems as it has 2500 leafs in.
I have a toolbox on a side of my bed, and an A frame, that i put my granite/marble countertops on. Most of the time i have around 400-600lbs of load on my truck. There were times when i had 130"x80" 1 1/4 slabs (2 of them) of granite on the truck, and it handled just fine. Most i have put on i figured was around 3000 pounds
Truck works like a charm, never had a problem since bought it. Replaced starter, brakes etc...
My diff is whining, but it has been for the past 30 000 km i put on it since i bought it, my exhaust manifold needs to come off, and i need to get it planned/resurfaced, and reattatched-there is a leak... besides that... i love it.

Haze, is the manifold leak at the rear of the left bank?
