Re: 4 turbo kits available

I do not offer superchargers for the car because of Ripp's buy in requirements and the turbo is a better power maker for the 3G, according to dyno sheets, not me.

Re: 4 turbo kits available

there are ups and downs to everything, it depends on what kind of person you are, i'm a turbo person, i like the idea of being able to stay under the boost and keep gas mileage reasonable, while being able to dip into the power range and let them listen to the scream of the BOV when i shift, hearing the turbo spool when i'm accelerating

on the other hand, the SC is a different sound, sure it has the Bov but it doesn't scream w/ the same effort that the turbos does, its belt driven, and max boost won't make it until u hit redline, where the turbos boost hits max b/t 2500 and 4000 rpm and holds til redline w/ a whistle while accelerating the entire way...there's a difference my best advice is see which u like better because either way, you won't lose

BTWAYSIDE JOHNNY!!

good question for you, because the 4cyl turbo kit fits teh 4g64 sohc motor in the RS/GS 2000+ , will it work on the spyder eclipse 96-99 GS?? or will there need to be structural modifications to make it fit? i have a friend that was looking for FI and he said he couldn't find any
if it makes ne difference he has an automatic transmission

Re: 4 turbo kits available

The manifold will fit, but I do not think the downpipe will. for everything else, I am not sure. The 3G is wider than the 2G, so it may not be th best fit. Some alteration would most likely be needed, but may be some trimming of the pipes.

If he wants a more DIY turbo kit, he can check out the Max Rev kit for the 4G64. I think that would be more up his alley.

Re: 4 turbo kits available

With the SDS though, I thought boost kicks in as soon as you hit the pedal because it's belt driven whereas turbo's are exhaust driven or am I missing something?

Re: 4 turbo kits available

turbos reach full boost somewhere b4 redline, but the SC keeeps building boost the entire time because its not a freeflowing all of a sudden, its on a belt driven by the engine and it constantly increases until u reach full boost at redline, sure there is no lag, but i like my boost sooner

and pm sending.....

Re: 4 turbo kits available

Pm Sent.

A centrifugal supercharger kit hits max boost at redline, or 6000rpm. At half of redline, the boost will be 1/4 of of maximum. So if you have a max boost of 10psi at 6000rpm, at 3000rpm, you only have 2.5psi.

On a turbo, boost is built using exhaust gases. Maximum boost is hit by 2900rpm (depending on turbo sizes, boost levels, etc.) on the AAI V6 turbo kit. You retain that maximum boost until shifting or redline.

For the instant boost, you would be referring to roots and screw type blowers.

i think you meant to say that a centrifugal supercharger hits max boost at redline.

Re: 4 turbo kits available

if you use FI at all, you will lose traction w/ stock tires, they will work, but you'll want to upgrade to get the best grip. either talk to a local shop or talk to people on neweclipse.org to get good or bad reviews on new tires, a pretty good set of 4 from tirerack won't cost more than 450 they also have a good sizing guide and what wont' work for ur car
