Car Sputters When Accelerating

i have a 91 ford escort (GT) 5 Speed, And when i go to accelerate from about 1 mph to 20 mph the car sputters real bad, fells like the car is running out of gas!! any suggestions? im thinking some kind of sensor, but i dont know. also past about 20 mph the car runs fine!!

have you tryed yto replace the spark plug and um wires cuz i change them on my 93 auto and it stop i wwould take the cheaper first

I also was looking to buy a 91 escort gt with 230 thousand miles on it and it was doing the exact same thing. The car would jerk so bad, it was almost like a first time clutch learner. lady said she would have it checked out. I'll let ya know as soon as i find anything out.

i found out the car had a hairline crack in the air intake hose. i ducktaped the hose and she ran fine.

I have the same car, a few years ago I had a similar problem, it was the coolant hose. I had it to a mechanic, not my regular guy, and he was going to try this, try that, and cost me big bucks. I got it back to my regular guy and he fixed it for not quite so many bucks.
