Hi Robert,
For clearcoating I use 2K clear from Lechler, which I apply following this procedure:
I start with a lot of mist layer, usually 5 or 6.
At this step the clear isn’t shiny yet, and there is a lot of orange peel.

Then I add a bit of thinner to the clear and I spray a couple wet coat.
At this stage the clear is really shiny ant the orange peel disappear.

Now I wait (10-15 minutes) the natural stretching of the paint, if there isn’t any orange peel the painting process ended, otherwise I give another mist coat.

The 2k clear dry in 12-16 hours (depending on the catalyst) so when eventually I apply the last mist coat the paint is still wet.

I surely hope not to wreck any nerves, but... how long do you wait between the mist coats? Even though the coats are not wet, do you wait the 10 - 15 minutes for the paint to stretch? Do you wait even longer? I always leave the foregoing coat (even mist ones) to totally dry out...

Robert

Between the mist coats I wait 5-10 minutes, it is impossible to wait the paint to totally dry because the 2k clearcoat I use, dry in 12-16 hours.
The mist coats are useful to avoid the paint to run out, so you can spray one or two wet coat, without problem.

At this stage I wait the paint to strech, and if it is necessary I give a final mist coat to cover the orange peel.

Re: A couple F575 EVO II: Gio and Richy's new girls

Lets’ go on with the cockpit.
I have removed all the wiring molded in resin and prepared new support for the new gearcases.
I paint the whole cockpit with Zero Nero Jet and then with White Alu Alclad.
I covered the drive shaft tunnel with Bare Metal and cigarette paper.

I prepared several gearcases

Thank you the replies to my questions. The interior is outstanding!

How did you make the switches??

Paintjob and interior are incredible! Who is the manufacturer of the switches in centre console?

Beautifully done, Riccardo! I particularly love the central tunnel foiling, very realistic, as well as the connectors wiring.

Bravo

Re: A couple F575 EVO II: Gio and Richy's new girls

Thanks a lot guys!

@Robert and Niko:
The switches are fully scratchbuilt, I use a PE ring from CrazyModelers as base, and a 0.2mm wire for the switch.
At the top of the wire I put a drop of white glue (in Italy we call Vinavil) and paint with chrome.

The interior wiring is finished, now I am working on the seat and rollcage.

Outstanding, Ricky

Q: I'd like to know where you got the fire extinguisher and the holding straps? Looks unusually nice IMO
