'04 Quest rear hatch hinges bent???

like many of you, i took my quest in this morning for a bunch of stuff. one of which was that the rear hatch won't close without pushing on it. it clanks and comes back up if you try and use the power feature.

the dealer just called and said that it won't be covered under warranty because it's gotta be something i did. i told him that it started shortly after i bought it last feb with a squeaky hinge and has progressed to the point where it won't even close.

however, i do recall that last august we took a trip and stuffed a bunch of bags and camping stuff in the back and i had to manually close it then. i do think it got worse after that. but should the back door be so flimsy that it freakin' bends the hinges if light pressure is applied to close it??? should i be prepared to eat the body shop costs to fix it or is this a problem that i should fight for warranty to pay for?

TIA!
