Convert automatic to manual transmission

I have a 93 Aerostar with an automatic and I want to convert it to a manual transmission. I also have a 93 Aerostar with a manual transmission that I will use for the parts. Are there any serious or difficult problems that I'll encounter? Will the manual flywheel bolt directly to the automatic's engine, or do I need a conversion plate of some kind? How do I get the backup lights' wiring to work on the manual transmission? Will the bell housing bolt to the automatic's engine? Thanks for the help!

Re: Convert automatic to manual transmission

The engine will bolt to either a manual or auto. You will need to take the ring gear from the manual and bolt it to the engine. Yor problems will start when you try to install the clutch pedal assembly and linkage. Why not do like me, Just go buy one thats a manual and benifit from haveing 2 parts cars.Dont forget the drive shaft will have to be switched also
