84 GTV6 Spongy Brakes

Working on an Alfa Romeo GTV6 braking system. Came in with driver rear brake line capped off, rotor was broken, parts melted to the old pads. Pass rear caliper was ok aside from a small leak.

We replaced the rear calipers, rotors and pads. Soon after we also changed the master cylinder.

With the braked adjusted correctly, and bleeding it many different ways (no more air from bleeders or T-fitting all around), the rear brakes are still spongy. If you press lightly on the pedal, the fronts hold perfect. Press harder and the rears still can be turned fairly easily. When the pedal is released and pressed immediately again, the rear brakes then hold.

I have done research on it but now I'm stuck at this point. I'm not sure what the inline valve(?) is just before the rear axle. Could this cause a problem or is there a known problem with the proportioning valve (totally clueless on this car on it). Any information would be greatly appreciated. -Kulluan77
