Bought a 93 del Sol. Just found out it was used for street racing...

Found out because we accidentally blew out the radiator...don't ask...it took a lot of work, believe me. Replaced the radiator. Started the car. Ran for 15 minutes then died. Brought our mechanic to the house, he looked under the hood and asked WTH we were street racing. Had no idea what he was talking about, told him we just bought it used from Craig's List. Showed us all the aftermarket wiring and bypasses. Explained it in simple language. Here's my problem:

It still will not start. We followed as many wires as daylight would allow, reset the battery cables several times. Nothing. When I turn the key, it makes that chugging noise like it's about to turn over and that's it. What else could have been done? (I know, I know...that's a pretty intense question, but still)

And for part two:

I'm just a little old lady who wanted a cute little dependable sports car to get to and from work and maybe take it out to the lake on the weekends when it isn't too hot...how badly was it affected when it was converted for street racing?

umm.... He could tell it was a "street racer" by the wiring?.. My Delsol is swapped and bet he would never know. He needs to check fuel pressure check for spark. And since you say the radiator went out, check the oil for chocolate milk.
