Re: 326 Engine

dodge it,

Not much. Your only real "hope" of getting much for it is to find someone that's restoring a car that requires the one you're selling. Unlike 327 Chevy, 326 Pontiac is not a good performance engine, as as such, not much market for it.

Don't bother cleaning it up, either. Anyone seriiously interested will probably want to tear it all down and "go through it" before they use it. Get the block casting number, head casting number and "date code", as well as the two-digit stamped "letter code" in order to positively identify it. This will get you closer to the "right" buyer.

Re: 326 Engine

MrPbody is right, the 326 engines aren't real desirable performance wise....but a Pontiac Owner looking for an original numbers matching Engine would be the one most interested in it!

The 326 came out for several years and was in the Pontiac LeMans,Tempest (1966-67) and even the 1st Generation Firebirds in 1967.I'd have to look and see if the 326 was in the 1964-65 Pontiac Tempest/LeMans too?

Re: 326 Engine

The 326 block is essentially the same as a 389 or 421 AFAIK, just smaller bore and stroke. The GTO could have been born earlier, a 389 would have bolted right into a '63 Tempest or LeMans.

Funny thing, since it has more cast iron, it's probably a bit heavier than its bigger-displacement brothers.
