Passenger airbag light
I have a 2005 jeep liberty sport, a little question.
the passenger airbag disabled light comes on when somebody (adult) sits in the seat. the instrument panel also shows an airbag warning light. its supposed to be activated when there is an occupant and obviously deactivated when there is no occupant. any trouble shooting help would be greatly appreciated. thanks, ADAM |

Re: Passenger airbag light
how much does the occupant weigh? i don't know the cut off but if the person is low weight it will disable the airbag. mike

Re: Passenger airbag light
I just bought an '04 Liberty and I have a similar problem with the passenger airbag light. It's intermitten as far as staying on and going off. I read in the manual that when you intially start the car the computer does a systems check. This last for 5~7 seconds. If the airbags are working properly the airbag lights will go out.
I did not know there's a sensor in the passenger seat. Maybe when there's noone sitting in the seat the airbag light stays on, meaning it's disabled? |

Re: Passenger airbag light
The sensors for the passenger occupant classification are in the seat bottom cushion and are not serviceable. It sounds like you have a faulty sensor that is shutting down the system.
You will need to get it to dealer and have them check out the system. Under 50K miles and it should be covered under warranty. For more complete information about your vehicle and airbag systems, check out this site: http://www.airbagsolutions.com
