350z 6MT transmission - What's the word?

Hey guys,

I have heard a few people commenting on problems with the 6MT transmission in the 350Z, I am just wondering if anyone knows what has been causing these problems. Also are they isolated problems or a generic fault with the 'box'. Is there a fix for the box? - most people seem to simply have it replaced.

I am considering using one in my race car, but I need it to be reliable (rebuilt once per year is ok). It's not a big horsepower car - 330bhp at the flywheel.

Any thoughts?

I thought the problem was isolated to cars built in the first run (pre-March 03) . . . in any case, the tranny is simply replaced. From what I understand, the syncros are not the best, but for 330bhp, you should be golden. TT . . . now that's another story
