broken rear glass/defroster AGAIN

well it happened again today, last year i was in n.c and it was snowing so i put my rear defroster on and the back window shattered i had to drive 12 hours home to florida with plastic on the back window the dealership said that the aftermarket window tint made the window explode and that it would not be covered under warrenty

so today my wife was driving the truck in the rain and put the rear defroster on and once again the rear window shattered and once again izusu will not do the right thing and repair the problem or issue a warning for people with after market tint but this time im doing the right thing last time the dealership charge me 511.00 so now im using safelite autoglass there coming to my house later today for 215.00 dollars

Re: broken rear glass/defroster AGAIN

That is nuts, I have found that dealerships dont want to cover anything that is even close to a aftermarket peice. They will blame a bad rearend on wind tint if they can.

Re: broken rear glass/defroster AGAIN

Isn't glass covered under your basic car insurance? I had the rear window blow on an older car and my insurance covered it under (comprehensive I think) 100%.

Re: broken rear glass/defroster AGAIN

Isuzu should not be held liable because someone etched your window while cutting the tint. We had the same problem where I work I have seen about 12 windows explode after they had been tinted we researched a found that where the tint was trimmed at the bottom of the defrost grid the razor used etched the glass the guy we were using did not want to belive it we had him cut the tint before installing and have not had a problem since

Re: broken rear glass/defroster AGAIN

I bought my '00 Rodeo used with rear tint already installed. No, I have not had the window shatter, and hopefully it never will.... but I do have defroster issues. One of the connectors to the window element was disconnected when I bought it, so I reconnected it. I can't say that the defroster is broken, but its efficiency seems to be variable across different latitudes of the glass. Still, I have no idea why that connecteor was unplugged. Never-the-less, I can live with this minor issue b/c I still love my 4x4.
