99 navigator rear susp

pump seems to be running, for some reason is does not sound as loud. as normal. So now hear me out before jumipin all over me.

I was driving it just before it dropped and I heard a pop and what appeared to be a hiss......like deflating. If I was to guess I'd say driver side.

So now that it is a low rider in back,........can I lose one bag or if you lose one you lose both or perhaps its a line that failed which would explain why both dropped. Anyhow, how does one trouble shoot this as it seems like the compressor runs and the light also does not come on, fuses look okay if its the 50 amp fuse under the hood in position 109.

if the pump is running - get under the vehicle and follow the lines and look/listen for a leak.

found it, it was the coupler/union near the master cyinder. cracked on both end and one let go. Whats the deal with that location for a fitting, there are no bends or transitions...seems odd to add a point of failure at that point.

so how many more of them exist like that that will fail over time.

It seems like TONS!! This is becoming the #1 complaint with the Navi Air Ride. Someone posted a TSB on that one too.

Re: 99 navigator rear susp

That is what Mine did when I reached up pulled a wire clip that holds the Manuel Release Valve top of Strut turned valve to second notch and collapse
strut, I was changing all of My Struts and that is in the procedure------You may want to look at this valve it could have came loose or wasn"t fully indexed;It has elec wires running to it; It is Plastic valve ;Turn air ride off jack and block the car at wich ever location;Now look up at valve see if it is in the slot; It will Deflate when clip is removed and it is turned counter clock,1/4 turn; Hope this helps;
