What tires to buy

I'm new here so bear with me.
MILESTAR
PATAGONIA H/T $102
PATHFINDER $125
HT
These are the two I'm considering.
I get a 5% discount for being a veteran.
And 5% discount for using their credit card.
Discount Tire.
I dont need new tires until at least the end of summer.

This is for a 2002 Blazer and I live in snow country (Colorado) so snow and ice are a major consideration.
I drive less than a 100 miles week and I need to stay in this price range.
What do you think?

I think you are doing this way too early. By the time you are actually ready for tires, the selection and the prices will likely have changed.

Maybe so but just trying to see what's available.
I'll probably get serous when Discount Tire has their Labor day sale.

If sno and ice are an issue, the HT tires are a highway tread design, may not be you best choice for those conditions.

Try looking at All Weather tires. Those are winter tires designed to be used year round.

Keeping an eye out early is always a good idea, but I agree with this:

That said, Milestars will still be available for the (usual) Labor Day tire sales.

As far as winter traction, there are likely better choices.

I see it's an 02 Blazer, but what size are you looking for?

Winter traction is not a priority but a concern.
I dont live in the mountains of Colorado but in the Denver metro area.

I'm in Centennial on the East side...you'll probably be good with some solid all seasons. Not personally a fan of the Milestars. Only a 40k warranty...if it is in your realm of possibility, Michelin LTX costs more but will also last longer. Last set I had went almost 100k and handled all conditions well, except deep mud.

How long the tires last is no concern as I drive less than 100 miles a week.
I need to keep the cost to $125 max per tire.
What's wrong with Milestars?
They are at least made in the U.S. as opposed to made in China, I will not buy a Chinese made tire.

Ah, cool more info = better decisions! Yeah if you drive that little they should be fine. My brother had some, said they're slippery in the rain - not much of a concern on the Front Range ��

My wife has a set of Milestars AS710 a new model just released this year on her 2018 Elantra GT so far she hasn't said anything about traction in the rain but as you said it doesn't rain here very often or long.

Also with my Blazer being 21 years old I don't want to spend a lot of money on tires that may out last the clunker.(clunker=good enough for less than 100 miles a week)

I put a set of Milestars AS710's a new model just released this year on my wife's 2018 Elantra GT, she hasn't said anything about driving in the rain yet but she is very critical about her little GT race car.

Agreed; however I think the site totals ALL views, including non members. So anyone that searched for Milestar, this thread could have come up.

This site's been very slow the last few years, with the proliferation of vehicle specific forums....
