I've spoken to UK tuning guys who have managed to get an RS4 engine into an S3, so it might be possible...

It's possible:
In the DTM..The Audi Engineers put a 4.2L V8 in the TT.

However, Audi did develop a 2.7 bi-turbo test car (and I do mean Audi, I'm not talking about the Dialynx car) and almost definately made a 4.2 V8 test car too, both based on an actual TT chassis (in contrast to the DTM cars...), albeit it with significant changes to accomodate the weight, power and temperature. Obviously neither of these cars made production. I suspect we'll see some serious engine options featured in the next TT platform from 2005 on though... Clive |

Re: Audi TT engine swap
I heard through the grapevine that there is a guy/company that makes a conversion kit for the TT to fit either a 2.7 biturbo or a 4.2 biturbo in the TT. I also understand that he makes or has bellhouses made that allow the 6spd tranny from the A6 to work witht either the 2.7t or the 4.2T.
I sure wish i could find that guy though, i'd love a 4.2T in my TT

Dialynx fitted the 2.7t into a TT - see http://www.dialynx.co.uk/bullett.htm

what i mean by conversion kit is that it came with the parts and other nic nacs that would be needed to put it in, i guess you had to either find your own motor or he could get you one at a conciderable cost.
either a 2.7t or a 4.2 would be sweet in a TT.
