99CL Engine Problem
The check engine light on my 99 CL in on. The cars idles very low & stalls as soon as I push in the clutch (even when I don't attempt to put it in gear). Also, on an intermittent basis, the engine will not tac above 4000 rpm (when the VTEC system kicks in, I believe) I have brought it to the dealer several times & they don't seem to have a clue. First they said it was the O2 sensors, so I had those replaced for $600, then they said the diagnostics pointed to the VTEC solenoid valve, so I had that replaced for $450. Lastly, they claimed it was the car's computer...they installed a salvaged computer for $300. Any ideas?

Luckily, I have had no problems with my 97 CL.
Since check engine light is on, you must scan the OBDII for trouble codes. This should give you a very accurate idea of what's going on. Don't just start replacing parts for this will get very expensive and won't solve problem. I am surprised the codes don't pin point the problem! |
