Smile 99 Transport Trans Noise

I have a 99 transport with 180K miles. I've noticed excessive noise coming from the transmission pan when it is idleing and it gets loader when the trans is in gear. Van runs good with plently of power, the torque convertor will not stay locked in at cruising speed but it has been that way for a while. I've been expecting the torque convertor to go but the noise doesn't seem to be coming from there unless it is traveling through the trans and coming out through the pan. It still shifts good and runs out good just when your cruising the torque convertor kicks in and out. This noise is new this week. In January I did head gaskets, front and rear seals as well as oil pan gasket. Plugs were replaced while it was out and I maintain this thing like clock work. Any ideas on this noise?

Re: 99 Transport Trans Noise

"noise" is rather vague ...some description might lead to better hypothesis. I'm still advocating posting sounds just as pictures that are posted all the time. If you have a digital camera with the capability to record a short sound track in association with a picture, it could help as these files are easy to extract and post...just as this example from my KIA

..and I can help hosting it if you have problems with that.
ON the other hand, I do have a "noise" from my transmission (4T60 '93 TS) , that sounds like a buzzing sound that follows the speed of the engine...and it has been like that for years, without any consequence. Not really identified, but I'd think it would be related to the pressure regulator.

Re: 99 Transport Trans Noise

LMP, I appreciate you reviewing my post. I agree with you on the vague but it is a hard one to explain. I to have the whinning or buzzing sound you discrib. It has been there for a couple of years. The noise I have at the pan sounds like a pump running or fluid just rushing through (cavatation). I'm surprised the thing runs the way it sounds. I can try and recordthe sound but with the engine right there I'm not sure how clear it will be. Interesting enough in the drivers seat with windows and doors closed, my wife describs it as a flapping noise. I say it is more of a rumbling.

Thanks again.
